Clayton Campaign celebrates grassroots kickoff

Hundreds Attend Clayton Congressional Campaign Headquarters Opening

DeSoto, TX (March 3, 2012) — Taj Clayton, candidate for the 30th Congressional District and first generation college graduate and Harvard Law School alum, celebrated the opening of his campaign office early Saturday morning at 1615 North Hampton Road in DeSoto, Texas. Over two hundred supporters and volunteers attended the open house, throughout the day.

Clayton personally greeted each volunteer and shared his vision for the future, "Our community represents the greatest untapped resource in Texas, I'm running to make sure we reach our full potential—together."

Clayton’s wife Tonika presented her husband to the crowd, and lovingly spoke of her husband’s intelligence, optimism and commitment to their community. While holding their newborn child Taj Jr. in her arms, she also shared her personal experience with Clayton as a husband and father, attesting to his sincerity of heart and determination.

“My parents taught me to love your neighbor as yourself,” said Clayton, “That basic biblical principal is why I’m in this race--because I love this community and I want to see it flourish.”

“That’s my daddy!” cheered Daisha, his 6 year-old daughter, as Clayton concluded his informal remarks.

There was excitement in the air with many bringing their whole families. “Taj is the real deal,” said North Oak Cliff resident, Sean Allen, “His heart is in the right place. He knows what it is to work hard and achieve the American dream. That means something to me and my family—it’s what our country needs.”

Immediately after the informal program eager supporters got to work phone banking and block walking.
